The artists represent a  breadth of genres and cultures and perform in an outdoor setting  accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.asianinny.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/yo-yo-ma.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[12313]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-12314\" title=\"yo-yo-ma\" src=\"http:\/\/www.asianinny.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/yo-yo-ma.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"211\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Join SummerStage on opening night for a collaboration unlike any  other: an evening of music, dance, art and stories with legendary  cellist <strong>Yo-Yo Ma<\/strong>, his internationally acclaimed <strong>Silk Road Ensemble<\/strong>, and NYC students.<\/p>\n<p>Former ballet star <strong>Damian Woetzel <\/strong>will direct this one-of-a-kind program featuring the chamber orchestra <strong>The Knights <\/strong>and actor <strong>Bill Irwin<\/strong> as the Innkeeper, with appearances by vocalist<strong> Bobby McFerrin<\/strong>, author <strong>Jhumpa Lahiri<\/strong>, jookin dancer <strong>Lil Buck <\/strong>and other <strong>surprise guests<\/strong>, as well as <strong>Silk Road Connect sixth graders<\/strong> from Edward Bleeker JHS 185, Frederick Douglass Academy III, Granville  T. Woods MS 584, and PS\/MS 161 Pedro Albizu Campos School.<\/p>\n<p>Yo-Yo  Ma founded the Silk Road Project in 1998 to promote innovation and  learning through the arts.
