\nPawn received its first public workshop under the name Abraham Niu and the Friendly Fires at STAMP’s 2nd Annual “Spring into Action Play Festival” in late May, 2010 at Stanford University’s Roble Hall Theater. Though the script was still under construction and workshop was a simple staged reading, Abraham Niu and the Friendly Fires was received passionately by the community and soon garnered a dedicated fan base on campus. After a summer of planning, rewriting, and composition, Pawn was born, and received a full production by the Stanford Theatre Activist Mobilization Project (STAMP) and the Asian American Theater Project (AATP) in November 2010.\u00a0 The show performed one final run at Stanford from May 12 through 15 before departing for its international tour.
