The exhibition spans approximately 60 years, from the artist\u2019s early works in Japan to her 15-year tenure in New York beginning in the 1950s.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.asianinny.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/OB-TS735_0712ku_G_20120712033641.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[19864]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-19865\" title=\"Yayoi\" src=\"http:\/\/www.asianinny.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/OB-TS735_0712ku_G_20120712033641.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"387\" height=\"258\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Well known for her use of dense patterns of polka dots and nets, as well as her intense, large-scale environments, Yayoi Kusama works in a variety of media, including painting, drawing, sculpture, film, performance, and immersive installation. Born in Japan in 1929, Kusama came to the United States in 1957 and quickly found herself at the epicenter of the New York avant-garde. After achieving fame through groundbreaking exhibitions and art \u201chappenings,\u201d she returned to her native country in 1973 and is now one of Japan\u2019s most prominent contemporary artists.
