Olden New Golden Blue (Peter Chin) was commissioned by the CanAsian International Dance Festival with the generous support of the Canada Council for the Arts. The work premiered in February 2011 at the Fleck Dance Theater, Harbourfront Center in Toronto; produced by Tribal Crackling Wind (Toronto).<\/p>\n
In a new ceremony, five young Cambodians of a pivotal generation embody and synthesize contradictory ways of being in a contemporary Cambodian society of opposing currents. Tradition\/experimentation, preservation\/evolution, nostalgia\/future-focus, spirituality\/materialism, and public exhibition\/private introspection collide and merge briefly in this new work by Peter Chin, created in collaboration with the Cambodian artists.<\/p>\n
My Mother and I, created and performed by Cambodian choreographer Chey Chankethya, will make its world premiere at the Abrons Arts Center during the Season of Cambodia Festival.<\/p>\n

Amrita Performing Arts (Phnom Penh) is an International NGO based in Phnom Penh, with US nonprofit status. Amrita is committed to creating Cambodian contemporary dance and theater, responding to the creative drive of a young generation of artists passionately dedicated to ushering their country\u2019s ancient performing arts heritage into the future. Our work is developed through workshops based on intensive exchange and dialogue with international collaborators. All of our efforts emphasize capacity building as we assist in nurturing a new generation of Cambodian choreographers, directors and practitioners in all areas of arts management.<\/p>\n

Tribal Crackling Wind (Toronto) is an interdisciplinary performing arts company based in Toronto. It was founded in 1999 to bring together the artists and means to produce the works of artistic director, Peter Chin. Tribal Crackling Wind is a distinctive creative force, bringing riveting ritual-based events to acclaim in its native Canada and internationally. The company\u2019s repertoire has been shaped by the multi-faceted creativity of Peter Chin\u2019s leadership. Described as a \u201crenaissance man\u201d, Peter Chin is a choreographer, composer, designer, writer, director and performer of dance and music. He creates works that potentially engage all of these disciplines, inspired by the Asian paradigm of \u201cTotal Theatre\u201d.<\/p>\n
