The porter position is crucial to the day-to-day cleanliness of the building and the
\nsatisfaction of the residents. The porter has the following duties and responsibilities:<\/p>\n
1. Maintain the cleanliness of the building.<\/p>\n
2. The work of a porter involves physical exertion, and in instances, may be dirty
\nand messy. Care should be exercised to maintain as neat a personal appearance
\nas possible without interfering with your work. All activity should be as quit
\nas possible. Dirt and dust should be immediately cleaned up to avoid tracking
\nthrough the building. After completing a job, promptly make your appearance as
\npresentable as possible.<\/p>\n
3. Mop and\/or vacuum lobby and public areas.<\/p>\n
4. Clean glass doors and windows; clean elevators.<\/p>\n
5. Wash doors and bucks.<\/p>\n
6. Collect bulk debris from service landing and remove debris from building for
\ndisposal.<\/p>\n
7. Clean, wash and wax service landing.<\/p>\n
8. Clean and mop stairwells.<\/p>\n
9. Sweep, mop and clean all basement areas, including employees\u2019 dressing area,
\nutility rooms, shops, etc.<\/p>\n
10. Change burned out bulbs in all public and service areas.<\/p>\n
11. Report necessary repairs to the building Superintendent.<\/p>\n
12. Assist in moving articles or equipment for residents when directed by the
\nBuilding Superintendent. Put away or transport the luggage as directed by the
\nBuilding Superintendent.<\/p>\n
13. Hose and sweep sidewalks, polish brass, maintain exterior planting areas.<\/p>\n
14. Do minor painting, as directed by the Building Superintendent.<\/p>\n
15. Perform all of the maintenance and housekeeping as directed by the Building
\nSuperintendent. If instructed by the Building Superintendent to help with any job,
\nit is your obligation to comply.<\/p>\n
16. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by Management or the Building
\nSuperintendent.<\/p>\n
