Best known in the West for co-starring with Seth Rogen in Michel Gondry\u2019s The Green Hornet (2011), Jay Chou is famous in Asia for being a pop singer who has sold more than 30 million albums across the region and won over 350 awards for his works. Now he is a rising star in the movie business too. The Rooftop is an all-singing, all-dancing, musical martial arts movie with technicolored production numbers and massive kung fu fight scenes. Put on your goggles, folks. This one\u2019s an eyeball exploder! Shot in Taiwan, Beijing, and Shanghai, The Rooftop is a romance\/action\/musical extravaganza starring Chou himself, Eric Tsang (Ip Man: the Final Fight), Wang Xueqi (Reign of Assassins, Bodyguards & Assassins, Iron Man 3), and Alan Ko (Din Tao: Leader of the Parade).<\/p>\n

Set in a brightly-colored, super-stylized fantasy world, it tells the story about two contrasting communities: the rooftop-dwelling happy poor versus the sad rich folks living down below. With a 50\u2019s fabulous production design featuring switchblade knives, greaser pompadours, glitzy bowling alleys, and night markets, the film also presents dancing chorus of wheelchair-bound men and their nurses, giant gangster rumbles, and lavish production numbers. This is the kind of flick that brings together Enter the Dragon and West Side Story and turns them into a glittering confection of candy-colored pop power.<\/p>\n
