Job Description
\nDivision: Southpole
\nTitle: Fashion Design<\/p>\n

Position Summary:
\nFacilitate the design execution of a line that coordinates with the concept and philosophy
\n***MUST HAVE SKATEBOARD OR SURF DESIGN EXPERIENCE***<\/p>\n

Job Responsibilities include:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Develop a complete understanding of the Skate customer and create a complete commercial line to attract and maximize the purchases of the customer.<\/li>\n
  • Work with Sales group and balance of MD to ensure assortment is targeted to the Skate customer and adjust the line as necessary.<\/li>\n
  • Sketch designs in Illustrator (flats).<\/li>\n
  • Prepare design packages and transfer sketch from Illustrator program.<\/li>\n
  • Execute presentation boards for monthly meetings.<\/li>\n
  • Assist in facilitation of all aspects from concept to design and final development of a specific classification.<\/li>\n
  • Learn raw materials and trims related to a specific classification.<\/li>\n
  • Assist in all aspects of daily follow-up with external and internal business partners.<\/li>\n
  • Observe presentation techniques.<\/li>\n
  • Assist and take direction for preliminary design research.<\/li>\n
  • Observe, conduct, take notes, and execute changes from fittings daily.<\/li>\n
  • Review lab dips and trims with Supervisor and send comments to vendors.<\/li>\n
  • Prepare line sheets and update as necessary.<\/li>\n
  • Perform other duties as required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Skills\/Requirements:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Fashion Design.<\/li>\n
    • 2-5 years related experience in a surf or skateboard focused company such as Billabong, DC Shoes, Famous Stars & Stripes, Hurley<\/li>\n
    • Must be willing to relocate to NJ\/NY metro area<\/li>\n
    • Ability to act as liaison between many departments: excellent communication and analytical skills.<\/li>\n
    • Detail oriented and able to handle multiple tasks at once while juggling multiple seasons.<\/li>\n
    • Have basic knowledge of garment construction, silhouettes, color ways, sewing techniques, fabrication and trim.<\/li>\n
    • Computer skills: Microsoft Excel, Photoshop and Illustrator<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
