We will launch ImaginAsian TV (iaTV) in August 2004 as the first national, 24-hour Asian American television network. The fully advertiser supported ImaginAsian TV will offer American premieres of the best programs that Asia has to offer as well as original productions developed and produced by the network. The schedule will consist of feature films, drama series and sitcoms, news, variety and game shows, animation, children\u2019s programs, music videos, sports, documentaries and more. All in-language programs will be subtitled by ImaginAsian TV\u2019s in-house translators, and during prime-time, English-speaking hosts will introduce and provide commentary about the programs being shown. In July we will be opening our theater, The ImaginAsian, the only theater in New York City fully dedicated to Asian and Asian American film. The ImaginAsian will also feature cultural performances and community events. We are also a premiere sponsor of the VC FilmFest 2004 beginning next month in April. The theater is located on 239 East 59th St. in Manhattan.

International Sejong Soloists (ISS), is a conductor-less string ensemble comprised of today’s leading young soloists who perform a broad range of orchestral and chamber repertoire for strings. Since its inception in 1995, ISS has established a distinctive musical identity, winning acclaim for its brilliant ensemble playing, tonal refinement, and fresh interpretations. Its players, all prizewinners at prestigious competitions, hail from nine different nations. The ensemble has been invited to perform at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, the 92nd Street Y, the Kennedy Center, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, and at the Ravinia in Chicago, among other leading venues. ISS is ensemble-in-residence at the Aspen Music Festival and tours worldwide annually. ISS has also released two highly praised compact discs. The ensemble is based in New York City, where it works with its artistic director, Hyo Kang, a violin professor at the Juilliard School.<\/p>\n

invAsian is a free, e ‘zine founded in the summer of 2001 by Izumi Tezuka and Edward Crutcher. Although we made our debut as a black and white glossy magazine and our first 3 issues had print runs of 3000 each, we ultimately decided to convert to an electronic publication. The concept for invAsian was conceived through our travels and life experiences as we realized that there are a growing number of people who have shared in the challenges that we have faced as mixed race, multi-ethnic members of both Asian and non-Asian communities. Based in New York City, we are specifically created for the Asian Pacific American population in the United States. However, with the on-going diaspora of Asians throughout the world, the US may serve as the microcosm but Asian issues are of international relevance. The birth of WanArt grew out of a basic need and desire. Being an American born Chinese, Joyce often had a hard time finding greetings cards which reflected both her interest\/passion in Chinese culture and her personal style. Her entrepreneurial spirit and passion for design eventually led her to start her own greeting card company with the launch of 12 modern and playful designs featuring the animals of the Chinese Zodiac. Today, the line has expanded to include greeting card designs for a wide range of sending situations. WanArt has also recently added a new collection based on Chinese folk designs which aim to celebrate as well as offer insight into Chinese culture and language. The meaning behind each motif and Chinese character is featured on the back of the card. The contemporary color palette and cultural value of these cards will appeal to all those looking for something new and unique.

\nFilm financing requires stars. So Asian American filmmakers will continue to have great difficulty finding financing for films with Asian American characters as long as the pool of Asian American stars remains so small. But actors only become stars when they’re in financially successful films. Thus, by building the audience for Asian American films, this website will make it more likely that good Asian American features will get their audiences, become financially successful, and break the Catch-22 preventing the financing of Asian American films.<\/p>\n
