<\/a><\/p>\nWhile the Filipino food pancit, lumpia, and balut are slowly breaking into mainstream America, Original Philippine Music (OPM) should not be too far behind\u2014food and music go well together anyway, which was the inspiration for Synergy Productions and Marketing Inc. to stage the concert \u201cAn Evening of Original Philippine Music with Cecile Azarcon and Sounds of Manila\u201d at Peter Norton Symphony Space (2537 Broadway and 95th Street) on Sunday, April 27, at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe concert will be a musical tribute to celebrate Filipino composer Cecile Azarcon\u2019s timeless pop songs that have been pervading the airwaves over the last 35 years\u2014whether it be in their original form and arrangement, or contemporary rendition\u2014in the Philippines or in many Filipino American communities across the United States,\u201d says Grace Labaguis, Synergy Productions\u2019 marketing director.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe time is also ripe to introduce Azarcon\u2019s melodious love songs such as \u2018Even If,\u2019 \u2018I Think I\u2019m In Love,\u2019 and \u2018How Did You Know,\u2019 newly rearranged by the renowned musical director and arranger Lorrie Ilustre, and interpreted by Sounds of Manila, a band that produces an authentic \u201870s, \u201880s Manila sound, to a more diverse group of concertgoers,\u201d Labaguis adds.<\/p>\n
