\nIn celebration of the 35th Anniversary of Sino-US relationship and Pre-Lunar New Year Extravaganza<\/p>\n
Get ready to ring in the Year of Sheep! To celebrate Lunar New Year, the longest and most significant holiday in Chinese culture and the 35th Anniversary of Sino-US relationship, Hua-Xin Artists Ensemble will host a variety show called \u201cCulture of China, Festival of Spring\u201d at Avery Fisher Hall of Lincoln Center on December 21st, 2014 featuring Li Yu-Gang, one of the most renowned Nandan (male performer of female roles) in China. Joined by two other prominent singers Wang Li and Wang Hong-Wei, the trio will bring to Big Apple the most joyful music from China. The extravaganza will also include a percussion group composed of local talents to perform a piece called \u201cdragons rising and tigers leaping\u201d which implies one of the core rituals of Lunar New Year- to scare away the mythological beast Nian with loud drumming. Traditional dances will include fan and sword dances, as well as folk dances from Xinjiang in exquisite customs. In addition, guests will be mesmerized with a lion dance which symbolizes summoning luck and fortune. \u201cCulture of China, Festival of Spring\u201d will be a festive display of live music, choreographed dancers and colorful lion that ecstasies your eyes and ears. \nLi Yu-gang is one of the most renowned Nandan (male performer of female role) in China. His superlative artistry of singing and acting exemplified by the elegant body movements spellbinds audience from both China and Western world. Li\u2019s captivating opera The Portrait of Four Ancient Beauties has garnered him some of the best reviews in China. His feature song New Edition of Drunken Beauty not only blows fresh air into this old story dated back to Tang Dynasty, but also becomes a contemporary karaoke sensation and enjoys much success.<\/p>\n
Wang Hong-Wei is one of the most outstanding tenors in China. Growing up in Xinjiang allows him to interact with multi-ethnic groups and exposed too many different cultures. His childhood memory and the appreciation of diversity eventually became a highlight of his singing style. His popular songs include Music from the Western Land, Kashgar Girl and etc.<\/p>\n
Wang Li is a professionally trained soprano that also enjoys much success in China\u2019s folk song industry. She has been selected multiple times to perform at China’s state television outlet, CCTV\u2019s Spring Festival Gala which is among the most-watched programs in the country\u2019s TV history. Last year she also sang with world famous tenor Josep-Maria Carreras i Coll in \u201cMeet in Beijing Arts Festival\u201d.<\/p>\n
