Twenty-nine years after the end of martial law, it will be the island\u2019s sixth presidential election by popular vote and a strong demonstration of its people&#8217;s commitment to democracy. Polls show Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) candidate Tsai Ing-wen in the lead. If Dr. Tsai wins, she will be Taiwan&#8217;s first woman leader.<\/p>\n<p>Join us for a discussion of what some experts consider a major potential flashpoint in the coming year, especially in light of the fact that the U.S. recently announced renewed arms sales to Taiwan.
