There is one subject that continues to remain in the shadows for psychoanalysts . It remains there for a variety of complex reasons. \u00a0The subject is mortality.<\/p>\n
Why are we analysts reluctant to carry into session the engagement of issues around mortality and the limits of time? Do our own existential anxieties impede our explorations? Are we afraid in such work that we will be revealing our own vulnerabilities? What is lost in our analytic journey when we fail to engage, make meaning, and perhaps even find the creativity, embedded in these existential probings?<\/p>\n
