WHITE WAVE Dance is pleased to invite you to the World Premiere of “iyouuswe” at the La MaMa Ellen Stewart Theatre (66 East 4 Street, NYC) from May 18-21. We are the opening program of this year\u2019s La MaMa Moves! Dance Festival and we\u2019d love to see you there.
\n\u201ciyouuswe\u201d (reads as \u201cI-You-Us-We\u201d), is a work that has been born out of an ongoing collaboration between myself and the nine dazzling dancers of WHITE WAVE over the past 12 months. The movement, exhilarating\u2026provocative and shy scored to original music by longtime collaborator, ‘a borderless musician’\u2019 Ki Young, will take you on a 65-minute uninterrupted journey that will challenge us to examine who we are, and how we relate to ourselves, and each other. It’s a story about developing meaningful relationships in which we struggle to seek a sense of \u2018i\u2019 as part of a \u2018we\u2019.<\/p>\n
\u201ciyouuswe\u201d is a high-reaching artistic collaboration reuniting Ms. Kim with composer\/musician Ki Young, dramaturg James Leverett, and lighting designer Yuriy Nayer. Expressly created for the dancers of White Wave (Anton Martynov, Guanglei Hui, Cara Seymour, Tsai Hsi Hung, Mikelle Rindflish, Mark Willis, Casey LaVres, James Johnson, Juhwan Hwang), this piece will take their collaborative skills to new heights, arguably transforming \u201ciyouuswe\u201d into a multi-dimensional \u2018tour-de-force\u2019.
