<\/a><\/p>\nChina Institute and the China Beauty Charity Fund have partnered to present \u201cChina Fashion Gala 2017\u201d.<\/p>\n
The event will be held on May 7th at Tribeca Three Sixty in New York City and feature cocktails, a full length haute couture fashion show by Chinese fashion designer Lan Yu, and a twilight dinner.<\/p>\n
The mission of the Gala is to return the spotlight to China\u2019s inimitable influence in the realm of style. While the aesthetics of Chinese design have influenced the West for millennia, in recent years, China\u2019s fashion legacy has been overshadowed by its unparalleled manufacturing expertise.<\/p>\n
The objectives of the China Fashion Gala are to:

\n\u00b7 raise funds to support talented emerging designers
\n\u00b7 recognize individuals whose outstanding contributions have helped position Chinese design and aesthetics at the forefront of fashion on a global scale<\/p>\n
The China Fashion Gala will benefit China Institute\u2019s new Fashion Initiative and Fashion Design Competition Award, as well as the China Beauty Charity Fund Scholarship at the Fashion Institute of Technology.<\/p>\n
This year, we are thrilled to be honoring Chinese fashion photographer Chen Man and legendary model Carmen Dell\u2019Orefice. The centerpiece of the Gala is a full length haute couture fashion show by Chinese fashion designer Lan Yu. Lan Yu is one of China’s new generation of designers and is regarded as one of Asia’s most influential designers. Her design aspect is combining traditional Chinese Suzhou embroidery with haute couture. She uses her designs as tools to introduce oriental culture to the world. She is also the first Chinese designer that was invited to Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week in 2014. In 2016, she was invited to New York Fashion Week to launch her first ready-to-wear collection. She launches 2 haute couture collections and 2 ready-to-wear collections each year. Lan Yu is named\u00a0\u201cThe Chinese Queen of Couture Wedding Dresses\u201d by Chinese media.<\/p>\n
