My how the year has flown! In the past 4 months, we’ve presented an incredible array of plays and films spanning from the 1960s to now, covering a bevy of relevant issues from post-colonialism to female terrorism. Coming up for the final Take Two’s of the season, we’re pleased to present our only feature film of the year, THE EXILES – a gorgeous, poignant indie film lost for 40 years – and a little-known masterpiece by Peter Shaffer (EQUUS, AMADEUS), which will feature live music. So mark off the 2nd Tuesday in May and June, share a drink with us and see some darn good theater and film!<\/p>\n

\nROUND AND ROUND by Julia Cho, directed by Ching Valdes Aran
\nTHE EXILES Kent McKenzie, 1961
\nJulia Cho’s sensitive short play about a linguist who runs out of words to save his disintegrating marriage is followed by McKenzie’s remarkable 1961 film that takes place during one boozy, brawling day in the life of several young Native Americans in Bunker Hill, a neighborhood in downtown Los Angeles that has since been razed for urban development.<\/p>\n

\nTHE ROYAL HUNT OF THE SUN by Peter Shaffer, directed by Victoria Linchong
\nIn a French for foreigners course, a heated debate arises between two Muslim women over the right to wear a veil during class. Following the film, Pizarro faces off with Atalhualpa, the king of the Incas, in Peter Shaffer’s play about the conquest of Peru.<\/p>\n

The reading will feature Frankie Alvarez, John Campion, Graeme Malcolm, Sergio Martinez, Alfredo Narciso, Ryan Victor Pierce, Gerry Rodriguez, Jorge Rubio & Juan Villa. AND Juan Castillo of Andes Fusion on pan pipes and percussion!<\/p>\n
