New York City can be like a jungle. With a menagerie of people intermingling in seemingly never ceasing action, the City has ecosystems within ecosystems. Vibraphonist\/composer Yuhan Su has been inspired by her chaotic new home and her experiences with the individuals she has met there. Her new recording, City Animals, captures her enthusiasm for the craziness of the City and the adventures she has had since her arrival. Recent recipient for the 2018 DownBeat Critics Poll in the category \u201cRising Star\u201d of Vibraphone, New York based Taiwanese vibraphonist Yuhan Su has been living in the US since moving to Boston in 2008 to study at Berklee.<\/p>\n

City Animals(October 2018, Sunnyside Record) is her 3rd record release as a leader features her quintet with Matt Holman on Trumpet, Alex LoRe on Saxophone, Petros Klampanis on bass and Nathan Ellman-Bell on drums.<\/p>\n

Su\u2019s previous records A Room Of One\u2019s Own and Flying Alone have released to widespread approval and received numerous music awards and nominations, including \u2018Best Jazz Album of the Year\u2019, \u2018Best New Artist\u2019, \u2019 Best Jazz Single\u2019, \u2018Best Instrumentalist Award\u2019 from the Golden Indie Music Award and \u2018Best Performance Album of the year\u2019, \u2019Best Composer Award\u2019 from the Golden Melody Award in Taiwan, and \u201cBest Release of the Year\u201d by All about Jazz and Downbeat.<\/p>\n
