Queens in love with Literature<\/p><\/div>\n

In Letters to our Mothers, five writers celebrate the multi-faceted voices of South Asian women in Queens and what it means to be heard across distance. The Asian American Writers’ Workshop joins up with Adhikaar\u2019s Executive Director Luna Ranjit and Queens Council on the Arts to present readings by Asian American Literary Award-winning fiction author Meera Nair, author and Wall Street Journal editor Mitra Kalita, and poets Arun Storrs and Amy T. Paul. Shardha and Megha Lama\u2014theater members of Adhikaar’s Arts & Activism Program\u2014will perform “I wish I could tell my Aama,\u201d a theater piece incorporating dance and visual arts to tell bridge the difficult distances between mothers and daughters, asking \u201cAama did I ever tell you, I want to sing?\u201d<\/p>\n
