Hello Taiwan<\/strong> reaffirmed its longstanding commitment to humanitarian service and community resilience during the 2026 Greater New York Red Cross Heroes Gala 2026, hosted by the American Red Cross. The annual event, which honors individuals who demonstrate extraordinary courage and compassion, highlighted the growing collaboration between Hello Taiwan and the American Red Cross in supporting communities across the Greater New York region.<\/p>\n\n\n

Since 2019, Hello Taiwan<\/a> has partnered with the American Red Cross<\/a> to advance critical humanitarian initiatives. Through this collaboration, the organization has supported life-saving smoke alarm installation programs, strengthened government relations, and contributed to fundraising efforts benefiting individuals and families facing emergencies and hardship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The partnership reflects Hello Taiwan\u2019s broader mission to promote safety, preparedness, and community care \u2014 values that closely align with the American Red Cross\u2019 humanitarian goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An Evening of Inspiration<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The 2026 Heroes Gala brought together community leaders, supporters, and changemakers for a vibrant evening featuring a cocktail reception, elegant dinner, and inspiring program. Proceeds from the gala directly support disaster relief operations, CPR and emergency preparedness training, and services for active-duty military members and veterans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Representing Hello Taiwan at the event were Deputy Executive Director Darren Yang<\/strong>, Vice President of PR & Marketing Diana Lee<\/strong>, and Vice President of Branding Allison Feng<\/strong>. They were joined by distinguished guests, including Taiwanese American judges Frances Wang<\/strong> and Janice Chen<\/strong>, as well as Taiwan-born internationally renowned fashion designer Malan Breton<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The evening was filled with warmth, inspiration, and a shared sense of purpose, highlighting the collective impact of community partnerships. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Honoring the 2026 Heroes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The highlight of the evening was the recognition of two individuals whose courageous actions saved lives and inspired communities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

National Hero \u2014 Petty Officer Scott Ruskan (U.S. Coast Guard)<\/strong>
During the devastating Texas floods in July 2025, Ruskan carried out his first rescue mission with extraordinary bravery and professionalism. He played a key role in rescuing 165 individuals \u2014 many of them children \u2014 stranded at Camp Mystic. By coordinating triage operations on the ground, he enabled aerial teams to save even more lives. For his exceptional courage, he was awarded the prestigious Legion of Merit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Good Samaritan Hero \u2014 Christopher Perez (U.S. Postal Service)<\/strong>
On March 28, 2025, while delivering mail, Perez discovered a fire at Jefferson Valley Senior Living. Spotting an elderly resident trapped on a balcony, he quickly parked his postal vehicle beneath the balcony, climbed onto the roof, and guided the resident to safety before firefighters arrived \u2014 all while facing intense heat and flames. His swift and selfless actions exemplified true community heroism. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s honorees served as powerful reminders that courage and compassion can transform lives. Through continued collaboration, Hello Taiwan and the American Red Cross aim to expand their humanitarian efforts and strengthen community resilience across the region. United by a shared mission of service, the partnership continues to turn compassion into action \u2014 ensuring that help is always within reach and inspiring the next generation of heroes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
