We Might Have to Excise Your Lung is a project inspired by neuroscientist V.S. Ramachandran’s research on how our body is a map constructed by the brain in order to manage it more easily and how that makes the body image changeable in our minds. Jia-Jen Lin presents a series of modular works exploring how modern medicine changes our physical perception with regards to our own bodies. She also questions how our physical bodies lose their integrity and become more fragile under the authority of these medical systems, as our medical technology is moving faster than we can imagine. NATIONAL DANCE INSTITUTE CELEBRATES COLLABORATION WITH CHINESE CHILDREN IN CHINA

On April 28, 2014 National Dance Institute (NDI) held their annual Gala which included performances by some of NDI’s 6000 public school students showcasing Chinese dance as part of NDI’s collaboration with China, “Dancing into the Future: I Can, Too.” Ambassador Sun Guoxiang and his wife Wang Min and Deputy Consul General Zhang Meifang attended as honorable guests. Honorary Gala Chairs included Whoopi Goldberg, Chris Noth and Debra Messing, with Charlotte d’Amboise and Terrence Mann of the Tony award-winning Pippin as emcees.
