Taiwanese Original Comics and Video Games to Participate in New York Comic-Con and Anime Fest

This year the New York Comic-Con collaborate with Anime Expo to host the first-ever Anime Fest @ NYCC at Pier 94 from October 4th to 7th, alongside with the New York Comic-Con in the Javits Center during the same period, and it is estimated that 200,000 fans will be attendance. Sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, and organized by the Taipei Cultural Center in NY and the Chinese Animation and Comic Publishers Association, nine Taiwanese comic publishers including Tongli Publishers, Sharp Point Publishing, Ever Glory Publishing Co., Ltd. Kadokawa Taiwan Co., Dala Publishing Co., Gaea Books, Friendly Land Creative Co., Ltd., Uei-Shiang Co., Ltd., and VMage Co. Ltd., and two Taiwanese video game companies including Red Candle Games and Toii Games, will be participating at a special Taiwan Pavilion. EVA to take delivery of its first 787-9 Dreamliner Reveals new Royal Laurel Class business cabin by Designworks

EVA Air announced today that the delivery ceremony of its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner will be held at Boeing South Carolina in Charleston on October 02, 2018. The new aircraft is configured for 304 passengers in two cabins, 26 in Royal Laurel Class business and 278 in Economy, and introduces brand-new seats and a new look throughout. Taiwan Cinema continues to shine NYAFF 2018 with an eclectic mix of films by emerging Taiwanese filmmakers

The Taipei Cultural Center in New York is thrilled to be partnering again with the New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF) to present a Taiwan cinema series this year. Taking place from June 28 through July 15, NYAFF returns for its 17th annual edition with a can’t- miss lineup of the best of Taiwan’s recent offerings and a spotlight on Taiwanese rising talents. Titles include the blockbuster Gatao 2: Rise of the King, festival prizewinners The Bold, The Corrupt, and The Beautiful, gripping dramas Missing Johnny, The Last Verse, and autobiographical animated film On Happiness Road, most of them are first films that prove the strength of arthouse production and genre output of Taiwan cinema.
Tseng Ying-ting’s melodrama The Last Verse follows a couple through the love and dreams of their youth as each is worn away by poverty and cruel reality in adulthood. This festival hit was selected for Busan International Film Festival New Currents competition and will make its New York premiere with the director in person on July 7th. [Read More]
