Once again, Vera Wang presented her collection during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center. As always, Vera Wang’s collection is elegant and keeps in mind the sensuality of a woman’s body.
The opening pieces for Vera Wang for Fall/Winter 2011 collection were a dark wintry black. Black fur vests and sleeveless parkas trimmed with fox were worn over black dresses with leggings and black wedge booties. The color palette progressed slowly to almost spring-like colors of ivory, mustard, dusty pink, and finally smoke (grey). Although most of the dresses reached past the knee, Vera made up for the length with the use of sheer revealing material and deep cuts to the front and back. Several dresses even had a short train (perhaps a nod to Vera’s bridal background). At times arms were bare or covered with elbow length leather gloves, but legs for the most part peeked out of sheer knee length or maxi dresses full of fine pleats and ruffles. The layering of different material weights and pleating created a sleek look with a nice amount of volume.
