2011 INTERNATIONAL RESTAURANT & FOODSERVICE SHOW OF NEW YORK: JETRO and MAFF Organizations to Showcase 26 Handpicked Specialty Vendors!
From February 27th through March 1st, the 2011 International Restaurant & Foodservice Show of New York will host the Japan Pavilion, one of the largest Japanese exhibits in U.S. trade show history, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.
The Japan Pavilion will feature 80 vendors with high quality products and regional specialties. The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) along with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) have exclusively invited 26 companies to the Pavilion, including Japanese food and beverage manufacturers, as well as wholesalers.
The showcased products (some of which are making their international debut) have been chosen from thousands of potential vendors throughout Japan and were specifically selected for their quality, authenticity and health attributes. Products on display at the show include vinegars, soy sauces, sea salt, tofu, wasabi, pickled vegetables, teas, matcha, cocktail bases, sake, noodles, udon and seafood. A wide variety of Japanese delicacies will also be available to sample.
Japanese cuisine is refined and healthy and to promote this further, JETRO has organized two cooking demonstrations to take place during the show. On Sunday, February 27th, Chef Hiroko Shimbo of Hiroko’s Kitchen and Chef Shannon Johnson of Applebee’s Restaurant Group will explain the Art of Izakaya Dining, showing guests how to extract inspiration from Japanese izakaya dishes to create healthy menu items; followed by Chef James McCurley of PF Chang’s, who will demonstrate how to incorporate izakaya‐style dishes in existing menus.
And on February 28th, Chef Shimbo and Chef Kevin Yeung of Moody’s will showcase how noodles are utilized in casual dinning.
