(Designer Au Ekbutr Udomphol)
For Spring Summer 2011 The Only Son takes inspiration from the artist Brion Gysin and his work with sound experiments, widely referred to as the cut up technique. Pistol Poem was the title Gysin used for a poem recorded for the BBC.
Gysin’s piece features the sound of a pistol being fired and that of a marksman counting the shots. The Only Son provides a visual interpretation of this with firearm, bullet, shooting target and hunting references used throughout the collection. The work of Gysin was both surreal and minimal in style.
Prior to launching his debut label – The Only Son, the designer Au Ekbutr Udomphol acquired extensive knowledge and training at well-respected fashion labels in Australia and New York., such as Ksubi, Sass & Bide, and Imitation of Christ. Now in its second season The Only Son has quickly established a recognizable utilitarian and modern aesthetic, and is hitting asos.com at the beginning of April.
