Thursday, April 7 · 6:00pm – 8:00pm
520 W 27th #101, NY
Exhibition: April 7, 2011 to May 4, 2011
Opening Reception with Artists: April 7, 2011, 6-8pm
ArtGate Gallery is pleasured to present Metamorphosis of Imaginations, an exhibition featuring artists Miya Ando and Seung Wook Sim. The exhibition, curated by Sylvia Kim, will be on display from April 7, 2011 to May 4, 2011 and will showcase sculpture and installation works of these talented artists.
The compilation of art works created by these two unique artists of distinct backgrounds is forged together by their interpreted manifestation of imagination and memory. One’s imaginations are seldom vivid while some memories fade with the passage of time. We find ourselves in awe, engulfed with emotions and intrigue in the rare moment when we are able to recall the true imagery. Miya Ando’s vision of tranquility resonates in her works of steel, as she shreds away layers of superfluous content in search of purity. Viewers will experience a meditative state that Ms. Ando endured during her childhood years in a Buddhist temple in Japan.
Seung Wook Sim offers us the physical representations of the environment and figures of his uncanny imaginary world. Mr.Sim isolates himself from reality and logical reasoning in creating an unadulterated landscape that expresses his fondness for the darkness that has consumed his consciousness.
Please join us on April 7, 2011 to celebrate the vision of Ms.Ando and Mr. Sim.
