2011 NYC Pride March: “PROUD AND POWERFUL.”
Sunday, June 26th, 2011, Steps off at 12 noon. Starts at 36th Street & 5th Avenue, ends at Christopher & Greenwich Streets.
The March began in 1970 as an annual civil rights demonstration beginning the year after the Stonewall Riots. Over the years its purpose has broadened to include recognition of the fight against AIDS and to remember those we have lost to the illness, violence and neglect. It has also evolved to include being a celebration of our lives and our community.
This event is free and open to the public. No tickets are necessary. Special needs seating will be made available near the intersection of 23rd Street and 5th Avenue.
