Program Officer – Institutional Giving
Reports to: Deputy Director
Salary: high 30’s/low 40’s
The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) is a nonprofit arts service provider with financial activity over $8 million annually. NYFA’s mission is to empower artists at critical stages in their creative lives. Through its fellowships, fiscal sponsorship, information services, and professional development training, NYFA works with artists and arts organizations throughout the country to support the creation of visual, performing and literary artists to the public.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Research, write, and edit grant proposals and final reports for foundations, corporations, and government funders.
• Research funding prospects and maintain prospect files.
• Collect and assimilate information for grant proposals and reports from program staff.
• Oversee tracking of deadlines and reports, data analysis and reporting on projects.
• Attend and participate in relevant external workshops where opportunities to met the funding field exists.
• Annually pursue 5-10 new funding sources.
• Communicate with NYFA donors.
• Maintain calendar of grant deadlines and final reports on projects.
• Assist with the execution of other development office activities.
• Work with Program Officers to ensure appropriate donor recognition.
• Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
• Bachelors’ degree and minimum of three years of development experience, including grant proposal writing.
• Superb writing, editing and proofreading skills.
• Computer literacy required; including Microsoft Office and Internet research, excellent database, word-processing and spreadsheet skills required.
• Knowledge of NYC artists and arts venues, familiarity with current arts events, issues, and trends helpful.
• Exceptional organizational abilities and independent initiative.
• Very detail oriented.
• Excellent communications skills; diplomacy in dealing with the colleagues and funders.
