AsianInNY, New York’s premier online destination for multicultural networking and entertainment, is hosting a grand Moon Festival Celebration on Saturday, October 1st, 2011 from 8pm to 11pm at the Bennett Media Studio (723 Washington Street, NY). There will be an exciting line-up of quality entertainment, from comedy to dance, music, art and fashion. AsianInNY is honored to partner with Manhattan Portage, an internationally known brand with quality bags made in Taiwan, and Onassis Clothing, a global lifestyle menswear brand with impeccable Japanese aesthetics, to showcase their designs on a runway fashion show. There will also be a fashion show featuring pieces from the CODY SAI Collection, a featured designer on NHK World TV (BBC of Japan) as one of the next emerging Asian designers coming out of New York City. Of course, not to be missed are the Asian models that will be walking the runway.  In addition, Kallisti Jewelry and Jade Chiu Design will be providing their latest collections to style the models.

Stand-up comedian Air Tabigue will be the MC for the night’s festivities. Tabigue has appeared on NBC, FOX and has hosted of Asian America on PBS covering talented Asian-American artists in entertainment. He will have the audience laughing all throughout the night with his witty commentary and fun persona. To set the party mood is DJ J4. With 4 rap albums released in Taiwan, J4 has made a name for himself by playing an ever-growing role in the field of Taiwan Hip Hop. J4 has provided pulsating beats in numerous popular clubs throughout Taiwan and he will no doubt enlighten guests with his music.

Guests can expect a spectacular performance by pianist Vivian Fang Liu, who has performed in many venues including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Steinway Hall and Hilton Grand Theatre, just to name a few. Vocalist Baiyu who has been featured in Celebuzz, MTVIggy and SoulTrain.com will perform her 2011 single “Together”, which just premiered on MTV Networks via their marquee programming.

Also in the line-up of events is a dance performance by J Chen Project, a New York-based dance company founded in 2008 under the direction of Jessica Chen. Chen recently choreographed a production representing the USA Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo and her show “To Identify” will have an upcoming limited-engagement at Dixon Place. Additionally, guests can look forward to a live performance by Coda Resistance, a band blending the best parts of Indie-Punk & Modern Rock with socially conscious lyrics.

YiLin Hsu’soriginal artwork will be on display in the studio. YiLin’s life as a former model took her from Hong Kong and Singapore, and then to New York City. Now, using her fashion background, YiLin creates art that consists of all elements of creative and playful, while being unique.

About Cody Sai: Cody Sai Adler-McAllister is of Vietnamese and Chinese descent, but was adopted at the young age of 2 months old into a diverse American family. While studying fine arts at Pratt Institute, he was introduced to internationally recognized Dutch designer Koos Van Den Akker and Cody apprenticed at Koos & co. for several years and finished his Degree in Fashion Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Cody launched his own clothing line “CODY SAI” in Spring of 2010; a women’s ready to wear line that focuses on clean, well structured, innovative and classically wearable designs. About Kallisti Jewelry: Designer Xing Xu, from Shanghai, lives in New York, is launching Kallisti’s new collection of handmade items including body draping chain jewelry, two-finger rings and other accessories. About Jade Chiu Design: Originally from Taiwan, Jade graduated from Parsons and has worked with labels such as Anna Sui, DVF, Babyphat, and L.A.M.B.  In 2009, she founded the Fusion Lovers Accessory Line that unleashes her wild fusion of ancient Eastern culture in sexy Western fashion. Jade’s design has been picked and featured by Patricia Field, Russian Vogue and more.

About Air Tabigue: A Filipino-American comedian who was born and raised in Long Island, NY. In 2004, Air won the Eastern Division of the First Asian American Stand Up Comedy Competition held by Takeout Comedy. He has appeared on NBC, FOX and has hosted of Asian America on PBS covering talented Asian-American artists in entertainment. He has co-hosted and produced popular monthly shows at the Laugh Lounge including Jammin Asian and CombinAsian. In addition, Air has MC’d numerous events in the Filipino and Asian communities, including the 2011 Philippine Independence Parade in NYC, the Asian Pacific American Heritage Festival, the Lunar New Year Celebration and many others. Air is also currently nominated for the “Most Outstanding Filipino-American in New York” in the entertainment category.

About DJ J4: Jay has released 4 rap albums in Taiwan. He performed in many famous clubs in Taiwan, as time goes by; he becomes an important role in Taiwan Hip Hop field through holding lots of party and DJ in concert tours.

About Vivian Fang Liu: She holds a Masters Degree in Classical Piano Performance at New York University.  She has also won several prizes at piano and voice competitions in New York since 2002, including Second Prize of New York Empire Piano Competition in 2003; First Prize Piano Competition of New York Music Teacher’s Association in 2002; First Prize of New York WAMU Bank New Year Singing Competition. Vivian has performed in many concerts within the Tri-State area; venues including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Hammerstein Hall, Steinway Hall, Super Star Theatre, and Hilton Grand Theatre, just to name a few. She was also invited to perform at the Gracie Mansion of Mayor Bloomberg for the NYCHA celebration in 2010. Her performance experience has enabled her to further her career by being accepted a judge for the 2010 Global Chinese Youth Musical Instrument Competition and adjudicated NYSSMA Festival 2010.

About Baiyu: After finishing her three year stint as a VJ for MTVu, Baiyu released her first EP “B-Side” in 2010, which generated much acclaim along with airplay on numerous college radio stations. She has since then been featured in Celebuzz, MTVIggy, SoulTrain.com, and various other blogs and magazines. About YiLin Hsu: Born in Taipei, Taiwan, YiLin was discovered by a teen magazine for a photo shoot and was quickly signed by a local modeling agency. During this period she designed many of her own clothes, jewelry, and bags as an outlet for her creativity. Within a few years her modeling career took her to Hong Kong and then New York City. Both places inspired her visual and fashion sense while the people she surrounded herself with informed her creative nature and helped her evolve her artistic sensibility. Over the last few years, Yi Lin has moved beyond fashion to art. While she still leverages her fashion background and experiences as can be seen in her unique color combinations and mixed media, her art always reflects a playful, genuine innocence not unlike herself.
