New York, NY November 3rd, 2011 -From the days of Marco Polo, Italy has been delighted to engage in a cultural exchange with Asia. In continuing with this tradition, ILICA (Italian Language Inter-Cultural Alliance) is happy to celebrate Italy’s 150th Anniversary by inviting AsianInNY, New York’s premier online destination for multicultural networking and entertainment, to participate in the festivities on November 11th at Chelsea Piers in New York.
This past summer ILICA and UNISTRASI (the University for Foreign Students in Siena) welcomed AsianInNY’s member Alice Moy to study in Italy. She was last year’s recipient of the University’s scholarship and will be attending this cultural event to speak about her Italian summer experience.
ILICA’s Cultural Event will be further enriched by a special performance presented by AsianInNY with the notes of Japan-born musician Tomoko Sugawara’s Kugo, an ancient harp invented nearly 4000 years ago, as AsianInNY’s goal to transcend “Cultural Boundaries” through entertainment and a true ‘Inter-Cultural Alliance‘. Together, both ILICA and AsianInNY organizations strive to achieve this global understanding through social events, arts, performances, education, literature, and charity.
Food and music unite all cultures and ILICA’s Preferred Chef Andrea Tiberi is planning to use the best ingredients Italy has to offer, including Prosciutto di Parma, Grana Padano, and Italian truffles to accompany the world famous Brunello di Montalcino wines from Tuscany at this gala where many special guests will be attending and flying to New York from Italy.
In addition, ILICA’s Cultural Event will have the presence of two Italian mayors: Mayor Casson (from Northern Italy) and Mayor Emiliano (from Southern Italy) who will represent the common ties that continue to bind Italy today.
