Queen of Bhutan, Jetsun Pema, Wears Anna Hu Haute Joaillerie to Her Wedding to King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and to her Honeymoon Visit to Japan to Meet Empress Michiko.

New York, NY (November 22, 2011): Contemporary jewelry artist, Anna Hu, celebrates her fine jewelry designs being worn by the recently married Queen Jetsun Pema of Bhutan.  The Queen dressed in Anna Hu’s haute joaillerie on her honeymoon and official visit to Japan last week, to meet Japanese Empress Michiko. Queen Jetsun Pema also wore the artist’s stunning jewels, designed especially for her, at her wedding to King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck on October 13, 2011.

The artist created the “Beloved Poppy Earrings”to symbolize Bhutan’s national flower, the beautiful blue poppy.  The flower represents harmony, endless peace, and the non-materialistic pursuit of happiness. It inspired Anna to create this piece of jewelry as a wish of love and peace for the new Queen’s marriage.  The earrings are cast in 18K white gold, with a ruby center stone surrounded by sapphires, paraiba, and diamonds.

The exceptional pieces within Anna Hu’s collection are works of art with the designer using gem stones as paint.  Anna’s design process follows the old-world French Haute Joaillerie approach but with highly contemporary designs.  Anna begins each piece by creating drawings, renderings and watercolor paintings, then incorporating computer technology to format an exact replica of her intended design.  Anna’s art works combine inspirational elements of classical music, whimsical imagination, and Western and Chinese art; they constantly push the boundaries of innovation through the uses of new metals and highly complex and unique designs that only a handful of skilled craftsmen in the world are able to bring to life.

ABOUT ANNA HU HAUTE JOAILLERIE
Anna Hu Haute Joaillerie was found in 2008 in New York City with an exclusive jewelry salon at The Plaza Hotel. Anna Hu grew up traveling the world with her renowned gemologist father, in his quest for rare stones.  A child musical prodigy, Anna won several awards as a cellist, but after a shoulder injury, turned her attention to creating contemporary jewelry objects.  At age 20, she received her G.G. qualification from GIA and Jewelry Design degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology, as well as two art-related Masters Degrees from Parsons School for Design and Columbia University. Anna has worked with Christie’s, Van Cleef & Arpels, and Harry Winston.  It was while working at Harry Winston that she met head designer, Maurice Galli, who encouraged her to create her own collection after taking her on as his only private student. Anna creates no more than 30 exclusive Haute Joaillerie pieces per year for private collectors. Heralded in her native China as “Empress of Contemporary Art Jewelry,” she resides in New York City.
