With the down economy, theater producers may have been seeking some divine intervention this year, and it appears the prayers of “The Book Of Mormon” believers were answered.

Conceived by TV’s South Park creators, it’s broken house records 23 times since opening in March and fully recouped, turning this unlikely show into one of the greatest success stories in Broadway history.

And yet another happy ending. Last year this time, many thought it was truly curtains for “Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark,” but the controversial $80 million show did go on after all, and it is flying high at the box office today.

Original shows overshadowed revivals this year, though several came straight out of the movies. Actors too.

A handful of stars made the leap from screen to stage. Among them, Daniel Radcliffe, who found much success in “How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.”

Some of our greatest actors returned to the New York stage this year. Mark Rylance and Norbert Leo Butz picked up their second Tonys.

But let’s hear it for the next generation of stage stars. Among the best and brightest: Jeremy Jordan and Laura Osnes, Jennifer Lim, Bobby Cannavale, Patina Miller, Jessie Mueller, Condola Rashad, and doing double-duty, Nina Arianda.

Now putting it all together, the 10 best on Broadway, in alphabetical order:

• “Anything Goes,” still going strong after winning Tonys for Best Musical Revival and Best Actress.

• “Chinglish,” David Henry Hwang’s clever comedy set in China goes “ka-ching” in America.

• “Follies,” Sondheim’s golden oldie made new again featuring a pack of legends.

• “Good People,” a great drama from David Lindsay Abaire starring the Tony-winning actress Frances McDormand.

• “Hugh Jackman — Back On Broadway” is a solid hunk of entertainment.

• “Other Desert Cities” playwright Jon Robin Baitz wins our vote with this superb play about family politics.

And finally, the year’s most critically acclaimed shows.

• “The Book Of Mormon,” the Broadway gift that keeps on giving.

• “The Importance Of Being Earnest,” starring Brian Bedford, stepping into Lady Bracknell’s heels in a towering performance.

• Larry Kramer’s heart-breaking revival of “The Normal Heart.”

• The magnificent “War Horse.”

All are galloping off with ovations and Tony gold.
