29 Cornelia street, NY
Named an “emerging star” by Strings magazine, jazz violinist Tomoko Omura brings her quintet to Cornelia Street Café. The performance will feature music from her “Roots” project, exploring folk and popular songs from her native Japan. The band includes Gilad Hekselman on guitar, Glenn Zaleski on piano, Noah Garabedian on bass and Colin Stranahan on drums.
“Omura is a strong improviser: snappy phrasing, harmonic scope and a willingness to open out run through the music…”
