ASIANINNY CELEBRATES THE LUNAR NEW YEAR & NY FASHION WEEK
– Year of The Dragon Roars to Life with Entertainment and Fashion Spectacular

AsianInNY, the New York’s premier online destination for multicultural networking and entertainment, is throwing a festive celebration of the Lunar New Year on February 11th, 2012 from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The event will be located at Bennett Media Studio on 723 Washington Street. In time with the New York Fashion Week, many outstanding Asian designers will present their new collections with runway fashion shows along with an exciting line-up of comedy, music, dance, and martial arts!

The Lunar New Year is a joyous occasion of enormous proportions in Asian culture. To celebrate, people surround themselves with good music, food, and company! MC of the night Victor Chu will provide laughs throughout the night. Chu has performed at major comedy clubs and college events all over New York City. In line with Chinese tradition, Gao’s Kung Fu Academy will show feats of strength and awestruck audiences with a martial arts performance.

Also in the lineups include: thirteen-year old singer and dancer Nina Sophia Mojares, who has previously graced audiences with her beautiful voice at Madison Square Garden and Carnegie Hall; and famed cosplay J-pop singer Reni Mimura who has published her first photo book “Maid in NY” in March 2010 and had released her “Sakura” CD album in 2009. Besides, Rima Strauss, the only non-Chinese who sings Chinese songs to large Chinese audiences around NY, will entertain the audience with songs they all know and can sing along with.

As a perennial favorite, this year’s fashion shows have gotten bigger and better. The spotlight will fall on models showcasing amazing Asian designers, including Meiling Chen’s FEARLESS DREAMER Collection, menswear designer Ninh Nguyen’s NINH Collection, Charmaine Ho’s Me Char handbags, “String Theory” jewelry by Jing He, and Xing Xu’s Kallisti Jewelry. Models will rock tresses and looks with amazing hair and make-up provided by Haruo Noro Salon.

Among other special highlights of the night, R&B singer Baiyu, jazz singer Le Zhang, and also Teresa Lee of rock/pop band PaperDoll will model and showcase the Han Couture, the beauty of traditional Chinese culture.

Sponsors of AsianInNY’s Lunar New Year Celebration and Fashion Shows include Asahi Beer, Asian/Pacific American Heritage Festival, Bennett Media Studio, Bruce Cost Ginger Ale, Folli Follie, Greater Chinatown Community Association, Haruo Noro Salon, Italian Language InterCultural Alliance, Kallisti Jewelry, Learn Italy, Manhattan Portage, Me Char Handbags, Nom Wah Tea Parlor, Onassis Clothing, popchips, String Theory By Jing, and 247Feature.com.
