We are looking for a person with an art background that would gain from the experience of working in a gallery. We believe this internship can help someone as a stepping stone to other art related work or as a way of helping an artist with their career by understanding the workings of a gallery. Interns will gain experience in all aspects of a gallery, as our thorough intern manual goes through mostly everything you will ever do here. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in a career in the art world and to get real experience in a gallery.
We expect you to be neat, organized, and have an eye for detail and quality.
The full-time internship is for three months for a total of 66 actual days. The stipend for the three months is $660, or exactly $10 per day (this is to cover your travel and lunch). You will be paid this stipend every two weeks, or if you wish, at the end of the internship. We ask that you are available and are willing to make the commitment for the entire three months before we would consider you for this position.
The hours are 12-6 p.m. Monday through Friday and alternating with Tuesday through Saturday, (starting in July Monday through Friday.) You are required to work five days a week and six hours each day. We¡¦re sorry but we cannot make exceptions to the schedule, as there is nobody to fill in for you.
We anticipate that this internship will begin immediately, and will end in August. If you are returning to school, and these hours conflict with classes, or have travel plans, you would not be eligible for the internship at this time.
If you are interested in the position, please call 212-343-0806 only between the hours of Noon and 6 P.M. Monday to Saturday ONLY, to set up an interview appointment. We are located at 568 Broadway (at Prince Street.) Take the R or W to Prince, the #6 to Spring, or the B, D, F, or V to B’way/Lafayette.
