Full-time National CAPACD Director of Administration and Operations at National Coalition for Asian Pacific American Community Development (National CAPACD)

Organizational Background:

National Coalition for Asian Pacific American Community Development (National CAPACD) is a member-based network of organizations from across the country joined together by a shared commitment to equity and social justice. We come together to bring visibility to the housing, community, and economic development needs of our nation’s low income Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) and the neighborhoods in which they live. Established in 1999, with 16 founding member organizations, we now have over 100 member agencies in more than 25 metropolitan areas across the country. National CAPACD is the first HUD-approved housing counseling intermediary in the country that specifically targets the needs of low- and moderate-income AAPI families through a network of 15 community based organizations that provide housing counseling on a variety of topics including pre-purchase, post-purchase, foreclosure, renter and tenant assistance and homelessness prevention.

Overview:

National CAPACD seeks an experienced Director of Administration and Operations to help lead National CAPACD in its work on a host of issues affecting low and moderate income Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the United States. The Director of Administration and Operations will be a key member of the organization’s senior management team and assist in charting the future of the organization

The Director of Administration and Operations will report to and work directly with the Executive Director on all major functions for the administration and operation of National CAPACD. This includes organizational development and planning, financial management, and coordination of staff in the National CAPACD offices in the District of Columbia and Oakland.

The Director of Administration and Operations will also directly manage staff and consultants responsible for fundraising, operations, and financial management, as well as other needs as they arise. The Director of Administration and Operations will have a central role in developing and building capacity within the organization to meet the many needs of National CAPACD’s member organizations and the AAPI communities that we serve.

Specific responsibilities include:

Management of human resources functions of organization, with specific focus on benefits, hiring and employment policies, and updating the employee performance evaluation system;
Management of organizational operations, including development and implementation of updated internal fiscal and security policies, document and archive management, institutional compliance measures, and overseeing the use of technology to ensure that National CAPACD is making the best use of resources while remaining nimble enough to respond to changing program and organizational needs;
Implementation of document retention policies, and maintaining electronic and paper filing systems;
Oversight of organizational financial management, including management of growing grants portfolio as a HUD intermediary organization, development and analysis of financial statements, and implementation of relevant fiscal controls;
Provide support to Executive Director as needed, including liaising with Board of Directors, developing and maintaining relationships with members, partners, policymakers, supporters, and other roles as needed.

Qualifications:

Required:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. Minimum of five years experience in non-profit sector or other related experience. Substantial experience with nonprofit organizational operations and fiscal management, grants administration, and staff supervision. Familiarity and interest in issues facing low-income, AAPI, immigrant, native or limited English proficient communities. Written and oral communication skills. Attention to detail and ability to prioritize and multi-task while maintaining broader vision as context for work. Excellent analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.

Preferred: Ability to integrate technological solutions to meet operational and programmatic goals; Graduate degree in urban planning, public administration, organizational systems, or related area.

Successful applicant must be willing and able to work in a fast-paced setting. Must be a team player who has demonstrated s/he can work well in a small, highly collaborative environment.

Compensation:

The Director of Administration and Operations is a full-time position to be located in Washington, D.C. Salary is competitive and commensurate with background and experience, and National CAPACD offers health, dental and vision, a 403(b) retirement benefit, accrued leave, and other benefits.
