Responsibilities for this position are as follows:
- Analyze investment strategies for individual insurance carriers
- Analyze individual investment opportunities and assess suitability to local entity profile. Help lead discussions with local representatives and Group functions
- Pro-actively propose optimal asset allocations for specific entities.
- Assist portfolio managers in selecting portfolios within Swiss Re to place certain investments
- Work with key business partners to address any tax, regulatory, or capital related aspect of investment strategy
- Coordinate investment review of reinsurance and M&A transactions with portfolio managers and business partners
- Participate in different key projects related to portfolio steering to optimize portfolio selection including analyses related to investment
- risk/return tradeoffs, economic capital and other financial metrics
- Communicate investment results and changes in investment strategy to key business partners
- Support North American Legal Entity Coordination function in New York
The following background and skills are required:
- Undergraduate degree required and at least one of the following strongly preferred: Masters degree in a financial discipline or professional designations such CFA, FRM, PRM or an actuarial designation
- Knowledge of major asset classes, investment types, investment analytics and risk management models
- Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in insurance or financial services industry. Ideal background would be asset management for an insurance company
- Knowledge of (re-)insurance business and regulation and accounting (both statutory and financial) in the US is a plus
- Understanding of major (US GAAP) accounting principles and Shareholder Value concepts a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability in and enthusiasm for working in an international environment, including the willingness to travel
- Strong team player
- Strong MS-Office skills, Excel in particular
