2012 ETTV Top Idol held its first audition in Los Angeles on June 2 at ETTV America’s studio. Many passionate and talented individuals came out on this sunny Saturday afternoon to try out for Top Idol’s Annual event. Due to the show’s growing popularity and also in its 10th year anniversary, many hopefuls worked hard to make it pass the judges and advance to Top Idol’s TV Show elimination round.

In this year’s first audition, we witnessed 13 year-old, Janet Li’s startling performance in which she barely made the cut off age of 14. We also enjoyed expecting mother, Gu Yan Hua, as she flaunted her fabulous vocal and wowed the judges with her voice. Unfortunately, Gu is due in August, right in the middle of our competition phase therefore the judges had to pass on this hidden gem.

The judge panel for Top Idol’s first audition included Martha Huang, Top Idol’s honorable judge; Daniel Liang, pioneer of the show; and May Chiang, ETTV America EVP. After a few hours of sweat and tears in the audition room, 8 individuals were chosen to advance to Top Idol’s TV Show starting July 15. They are Janet Li, Anna Huang, Haylie Huang, Adalon Chen, Mimi Lee, Shawn Chen, Aimee Pan and Billy Chou.

During the audition, judges gave valuable advices to each individual and noticed many were still nervous and unprepared, off key and stumbling on lyrics. Daniel points out that everyone who wishes to audition should be well prepared and focus on personal strengths so the judges can immediately evaluate your talent and potential.

In recent years, the competition has transitioned from a singing contest to an all-encompassing talent search. The judges look for drive, enthusiasm, passion, skills and talent. Top Idol also encourages everyone that has what it takes to be in the entertainment industry to try out at upcoming auditions.

2012 ETTV Top Idol will hold its second audition in Northern California this Saturday, June 9 at Genius Center, San Jose.
