FIGMENT is an explosion of creative energy. It’s a free, annual celebration of participatory art and culture where everything is possible. For one weekend each summer, it transforms Governors Island into a large-scale collaborative artwork – and then it’s gone.
FIGMENT 2012 includes annual, non-profit participatory arts and creative culture events, to be held in Jackson, MS April 28-29; in Boston June 2-3; on New York City’s Governors Island June 9-10; and on Detroit’s Belle Isle July 21-22. FIGMENT NYC will also include several exhibitions on Governors Island June 9 – end of September: a Minigolf Course with each hole uniquely designed by artists, and an interactive sculpture exhibition. For the 2013 season, a Pavilion, co-hosted with ENYA and SEAoNY will be featured.
Powered by the efforts of volunteers, our events are completely FREE to the public. The hundreds of family-friendly, interactive exhibits, performances, and scheduled activities reflect FIGMENT’s commitment to creative culture, audience and artist interaction and civic/community participation.
