Venture backed, rapidly growing start up seeks a VP Advertising & Sponsorship Sales to manage a high-growth advertising and sponsorship team. Located in New York, the firm offers innovative waste management solutions to customers throughout North America.
Background:
Founded in 2004 by two emerging environmental leaders, the firm is now located in New York City and has secured multiple rounds of venture financing as it continues to pioneer its integrated, novel waste management solutions. The privately held firm remains small, though is growing quickly and recruiting a team of highly-skilled professionals to establish operations throughout North America, and eventually internationally.
Position Overview:
Work in concert with the management team to identify key industry verticals to develop compelling advertising sales strategies that enable immediate penetration of each market. The VP will target large premium partners (eg Sony, JPMorgan Chase, Toyota, etc.) and develop high-level, long-term relationships. In addition, developing the Company’s plan for capturing local advertising revenue and executing on that plan is critical. Strategic planning duties will include helping to identify, select, ad prioritize regions for expansion of operations and service based on ad sales revenue potential. The VP will passionately evangelize the company’s mission and projected growth to all potential advertising and sponsorship partners, both at the client and agency levels.
Roles and Responsibilities:
* Design and complete online and offline ad sales strategies, including packaging, pricing, selling, and channel priorities, and assume the role of lead agent on the sales team
* Analyze the market, audience, and performance against plan, focusing on maximizing the current audience
* Hire and manage an ad sales team
* Coordinate with other departments to build and manage the ad sales team to consistently outperform against the plan
* Build and maintain relationships with brand leaders and advertising agencies
Qualifications:
* Experience building and managing a top-flight advertising sales group offering online and offline products tailored to a diverse set of customers
o Preferably leadership experience at a premier online company, such as Google or Yahoo!
* In depth sales experience in at least one vertical, such as financial services
* Self-starter, quick, analytic, strategic thinker, articulate, curious and creative, decisive, results-driven
* Knowledge of CPC, CPA, Affiliate, and CPM models
* Ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment
* Strong written and presentation skills
* Experience in website management, usability, and design
* A deep appreciation for the environment
