The New York Chinese Cultural Center (NYCCC) School of the Arts will present its 2012 Annual Student Chinese Dance Recital- Dance to China – at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center at the Borough of Manhattan Community College, 199 Chambers Street. The recital will be performed by more than two hundred NYCCC students ranging from children of age three to adults. The program includes popular dances such as Fan Dance, Hat Dance, Thi Dance, Mongolian Dance, Tibetan Dance, Red Ribbon Dance, Xin Jiang Dance, Ballet, Sword Dance, Acrobatics and Weaponry Demonstrations, and Manchurian Dance. Other program highlights also include children reciting Chinese poems and singing. In addition, NYCCC School of the Arts visual arts students as young as age four will be exhibiting their Chinese Paper Cutting and brush painting art works in the theater lobby. It’s a rare educational opportunity to view such broad spectrum of Chinese traditional dances in one program.
The New York Chinese Cultural Center (NYCCC), founded in 1973, is a community-based non-profit arts organization that nurtures, teaches, and preserves the traditional Chinese performing arts for present and future generations of Chinese-Americans, while introducing Chinese dance, music, and visual arts to audiences across the United States.
