June 22nd, 6:30 – 8:30 PM
Ran Tea House
269 Kent Ave, Brooklyn, NY

Shanghai Synergy Culture & Entertainment Group (SSCEG) presents a rising star Ruhan Jia at Brooklyn’s Ran Tea House on Friday June 22nd, coinciding with her invitation to A2IM Indie Week 2012 conference. SSCEG will be holding a press conference at the venue starting at 6:30pm, followed by Ruhan’s debut New York performance where she will introduce songs from her debut album “Time to Grow”.

Yanbin (Bill) Zang, Vice President of SSCEG and Deputy Chairman China Audio Video Association (CAVA) will open the press conference, followed by Keith Ferreira, Executive Director of Silva Screen Records which released the Ruhan’s album in The US. Impressed by Ruhan’s talent and growing international recognition, Hip Hop USA President Terry Nelson will be presenting Ruhan with a customized graffiti sneaker in her honor.

Ever since Ruhan Jia’s first appearance in January at MIDEM 2012, her stunning performance has garnered attention around the world. In March, she was invited to perform at the United Nation’s 2nd Asia-Pacific Climate Change Adaption Forum in Bangkok, Thailand. Later that month, Interpol extended an invitation to Ruhan to record the single “Proud to Be” in Johannesburg, South Africa as part of their global anti-fake medicine campaign, leading to her being appointed China’s goodwill ambassador for the project. More recently, she was invited to perform in Moscow for the first rAsia.com Festival devoted to Chinese, Japanese, Korean and South East Asian cultures.

“Time To Grow” is the first album to be released as part of the “Earth’s Music” project, which is part of China’s 12th Five-Year National Economic Development Plan. The album showcases Ruhan’s rich and melodious voice and wide vocal range. Consisting of ten tracks sung in Chinese as well as two songs translated in English, the album represents a truly cross-cultural project. The writers for this album include the Swedish pianist Robert Wells, whilst the production mixing team is led by the Swedish mixing engineer, Bernard Lohr whose credits include working with Celine Dion, Westlife and Il Divo to name a few.   For more: http://www.ruhan-timetogrow.com/
