2012 ETTV Top Idol headed up north on Saturday, June 9th in search for the best singer in Bay Area. The audition took place at San Jose’s Genius Center and attracted many passionate and talented artists, all coming from a broad spectrum of musical genres, including some rock and roll.

Jason Lau, a contestant from last year revisited Top Idol’s audition room again this year. After a few hours of mighty speculation among the 3 judges, Larry Peng, band member and lead vocal of “D Tune”, Daniel Liang, ex-executive producer of Top Idol and May Chiang, ETTV America EVP, 4 were selected to advance to Top Idol’s Preliminary Round with 2 Runner-ups. They are Jennifer Lee, Hyde Zhan, Jasmine Tsai and Jason Lau. Runner-ups are Bo Yang and Fay Chow.

Furthermore to this year’s competition, the 4 contestants will be joined by TAJCC’s i-Sing Singing Contest’s First Place and “Voted Most Popular” for Top Idol’s TV show preliminary round and Training Camp series.

During the audition, judges noticed a wide array of talents and were fascinated by the stellar performances. One of the artists soared a high note while the rock and roll bass player showed off his rugged voice. Another artist took the center stage with a ukulele and her uplifting voice. Peng explains that he is pleased to see so many distinguished performances while passing on valuable advices. Liang expresses that most of the talents still lose sight at choosing the appropriate piece to perform.

Producers of the show also want to remind everyone to come out to Top Idol’s next audition at South Coast Plaza this Saturday, June 16 @ 12PM and on June 23 at ETTV America Studio. East Coast audition will be held on June 30 at Flushing Mall, New York. Out of state individuals are encouraged to audition online.
