Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum
Pier 86 12th Ave. & 46th Street, New York, NY 10036
Hometown Heroes Day is the culmination of a summer long essay program created to allow everyday residents of NY, NJ & CT the opportunity of nominating their ‘Hero’.
Categories include Community Service, Mentor, Youth Community Service, and Serviceperson. Essays are judged by a team of Intrepid Museum educators. The top nominee in each of these four categories is recognized on Hometown Heroes Day for their outstanding contributions.
During the entire day, many community organizations are represented on Pier 86 to provide awareness and the opportunity to get involved. Organizations such as Red Cross, Salvation Army, Boys & Girls Club and various volunteer groups will have pier booths to allow the public to learn more. For more: www.intrepidmuseum.org
