Time: July 25, 2012 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm
Street: 145 West 26th Street, New York, NY
Japan U.S. Creatives will host receptions showing two distinctive examples of Japanese culture.
We will meet at Miya Shoji’s showroom at 145 W. 26th Street where we will see many examples of beautiful hand-crafted Japanese furniture, including beautiful tables, shoji screens, and tatami mats and hear a talk by Hisao Hanafusa about his creations. The showroom is really a museum and you will be amazed by the beauty of the work, but particularly the wonderful smell of tatami. There is no place like this in New York. It is a hidden treasure.
We will then take a short subway ride (ride not included event price) to JapaDog, a new restaurant in the Lower East side, to have a prefixed sample of many of their hotdogs and a drink. JapaDog offers a delicious combination of American hotdogs and Japanese toppings. They also have delicious fries with amazing seasonings, like green-sea salt. Hugely popular in Vancouver they are doing great in their first U.S. restaurant.
Since attendance is limited please make a reservation for $20 (includes tour of Miya Shoji, and prefixed sample of JapaDog and a drink.)
