AList Magazine officially announced plans to launch a new publication for the Asian American and Asian Canadian population today.
The quarterly magazine is funded by the National Association of Asian American Professionals, otherwise known as NAAAP. Accordingly, the first issue of AList Magazine is scheduled to be unveiled at NAAAP’s annual national convention in New York City, where it is also celebrating 30 years of excellence. The announcement of a full-scale publication, celebrating Asian American success is regarded as an important milestone in NAAAP’s history.
The magazine also announced its first Executive Editor, Chuan Tsay, a media and branding veteran, based in Raleigh, North Carolina, who has experience in launching startups. ”When it launches this August, AList will be a groundbreaking magazine that highlights Asian leadership everywhere. Our demographic has historically been underserved by the media industry. I’m very proud to be a part of this endeavor,” said Tsay.
The AList staff is entirely volunteer-based across the United States and Canada and is looking for volunteers to contribute to the project. Writers, photographers, designers, and management positions are currently being filled. Interested parties can contact editor@alist-magazine.com or visit www.alist-magazine.com for details. Story ideas and other contributions are currently being accepted. Tsay says the magazine is currently interviewing publishing partners and will likely announce the winner of the account next week.
A digital strategy is also in the works. ”We’re entertaining the idea of digital distribution but have our eyes set on making it to the print issue in August. Obviously, the digital channel is very important to us. However, as a team of volunteers, we have to carefully plan our launch strategy. I would like AList to be available through many digital channels in the future,” Tsay explained.
The magazine plans to distribute copies of the first issue to members of all of NAAAP’s 26 chapters across the United States and Canada. Non-members can also subscribe at www.alist-magazine.com.
