Join AsianInNY for the fifth annual Summer Streets! On August 4, 11 and 18 from 7 am to 1 pm, nearly seven miles of New York City’s streets will be opened up for everyone to play, run, walk and bike.
Summer Streets is an annual celebration of New York City’s most valuable public space—our streets. On three consecutive Saturdays in the summer, nearly seven miles of NYC’s streets are opened for people to play, walk, bike, and breathe. Summer Streets provides more space for healthy recreation and encourages New Yorkers to use more sustainable forms of transportation.
Summer Streets runs from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm. The route extends from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park, along Park Avenue and connecting streets, with easy side travel options on low-traffic streets to the Hudson River Greenway, Harlem, Brooklyn and Governors Island, allowing participants to plan a route as long or short as they wish. All activities at Summer Streets are free of charge, and designed for people of all ages and ability levels to share the streets respectfully.
Activities at Summer Streets will be based at six rest stops, and are all free! The stops will host performances and activities for all ages, free bike rentals and water stations.
We will be at Foley Square Rest Stop to support Taiwanese Temple Fair by Chio-Tian Folk Drum & Arts Group (performance from 10am-10:30am)!
The Foley Square Rest Stop, at Duane and Worth Streets, will feature a free zip line; free bike rental; Love TV, a DOT Urban Art installation; a GoGo squeeZ Mobile Playground and more.
