Aug 4th 10am~1pm
Chio-Tian Folk Drum & Arts Group from Taiwan will be performing from 10AM~10:30AM at the Foley Square Rest Stop (at Duane and Worth Streets) in front of City Hall. Then we will ride bikes with them to celebrate NY Summer Street event!
Have you ever experienced the vibrant energy of the Taiwanese Temple Fair? In cooperation with the Summer Street this year, the Chio-Tian Folk Drum & Arts Group, which the blockbuster movie “Din Tao: Leader of the Parade” is based on, will give New Yorkers an amazing performance of Din Tao.
The painted bodies and colorful costumes of this troupe of parading Din Tao drummers represent Chinese demigods. Formed by Taoist priest Hsu Chen-jung in 1993, Chio-Tian is exuberant, passionate, and dedicated, having once carried its heavy drums 13,000 feet up the highest peak in eastern Asia.
Also, the Foley Square Rest Stop will feature a free zip line; free bike rental; Love TV, a DOT Urban Art installation; a GoGo squeeZ Mobile Playground and more.
We will be there so join us! Bring your bikes!
