Williamsburg Fashion Weekend premiered in Spring of 2006. This September will be our 11th consecutive season. Arthur Arbit, a fine artist and clothing designer, started WFW with a definitive mission to lead by example towards instituting a positive change in the fashion world: assembling young and up-and-coming designers with progressive ideas about design, with the desire to change the fashion industry as a whole.
From conscientious production practices to showcases of the collections, Williamsburg Fashion Weekend is here to start a revolution.
Each season attracts approximately 1,000 audience members. In addition, we reach a stylish and progressive global fan base through blogs and social media. The spirit of our vision has been appreciated and touted by local, national and international press alike.
Future projects for WFW include establishing a manufacturing facility, a brick-and-mortar storefront in Brooklyn, as well as an online platform, to aid in furthering the careers of the designers who adhere to WFWʼs principles. We seek to cultivate a global as well as local community network by building relationships
with like-minded businesses outside of the fashion world. In order to cross-pollinate with like-minded designers throughout the world, we plan to expand our presence beyond Brooklyn in the near future.
WFW is launching a quarterly magazine to entertain as well as educate the consumer in the ways of responsible fashion.
