Job Description:
The Senior Manager, Accounting Research & policy, is a newly created position that will serve as the technical accounting subject matter expert with respect to the company’s generally accepted accounting policies, SEC principles and regulations, and to ensure quality and timeliness of financial guidance throughout the company’s finance organization. Lead, develop, and communicate research priorities for all complex accounting issues and policy functions. Be the finance organization’s liaison to relevant accounting pronouncements, principles, interpretations and emerging accounting issues from the FASB and/or SEC.
Qualifications:
• Organize company-wide technical accounting consultation via research on and analysis of complex accounting issues, applying relevant technical guidance and interpretation. Full documentation and communication, including recommendation, of accounting treatment to finance clients.
• Continuously monitor, document and communicate the development of new accounting standards, interpretations and emerging guidance to the finance organization, including current and future impact on the company.
• Overhaul, implement, oversee and maintain the company’s accounting policy and finance database.
• Monitor oversight on compliance of the company’s critical accounting policies by all business divisions.
• Lead controllership initiatives around accounting policy initiatives, such as IFRS, convergence, etc.
• Assist in the financial policy transition of newly acquired businesses.
• Work closely with external auditors, actuaries and legal counsel for timely resolve complex accounting and SEC issues.
• Approve and maintain maintenance of accounting research tools and materials.
Education/Training:
– Bachelors degree in Accounting
– CPA certification required
Job Knowledge/Experience:
– At least 8-10 years work experience applying technical GAAP accounting and SEC requirements.
– High Degree of technical proficiency required
– 6-8 years experience in big four accounting firm or significant accounting policy setting organization
– Experience with leading complex accounting research and technical activities in a large publicly-traded company with multiple business divisions.
– Experience with IFRS is a plus

-Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with external and internal customers.
