WHY: Our mission is to preserve the indigenous textile industry of Filipino Master Artisan Weavers that show the elaborate and elegant Philippine textiles and unique Filipino weaving and embellishments. Our goal is to spread the message that Philippine piña and other indigenous textiles can compete in the world of high fashion.
(PCNY) is a Fashion Show featuring the design of Anthony Cruz Legarda and showcasing the work of Filipino Master Artisan Weavers. Anthony Cruz Legarda known for his eco-couture notes, “We want to create a branding for the piña to be a world renowned fabric like the Thai silk, Indian cotton, and the Irish linen, as we produce the finest natural and organic fabrics made by master artisans of the Philippines and tailor them into museum and heirloom quality clothing.”
This Fashion Show will:
• Feature the signature textile piña, a high quality cloth handwoven from natural pineapple fibers made only in the Philippines.
• Showcase sophisticated hand crafted eco-fusion garments tailored into American art to wear.
WHO: Anthony Cruz Legarda is a Filipino American Fashion Designer and Textile Technologist who incorporates authentic handwoven fabrics from the Philippines and Asia into distinctive American apparel as well as modernizes luxurious ethnic cloth for the eco-fashion world. Anthony Cruz Legarda is a graduate of New York’s prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology.
