Christopher Phillips is the curator at the International Center of Photography, New York. He has formerly been senior editor at Art in America. Mr.Phillips was also the author of Steichen at War (1981); coauthor of The New Vision: Photography Between the World Wars (1989); and editor of Photography in the Modern Era: Documents and Critical Writings (1989). He has had articles published in October, Art in America, Guggenheim Magazine, and Plaszm.
Christopher Phillips, Curator of International Center of Photography, discusses the work of six younger Korean photographers. Most of them have studied at art schools in Korea and additionally in Europe and the US. Their work seeks to combine Korean themes with approaches currently used in international contemporary art. This talk is presented in conjunction with the current exhibition, Traces of Life: Seen Through Korean Eyes 1945-1992.
